NIGERIANS FAULTS MENAYE WEARING ACADEMIC GOWN TO ASSEMBLY

Cross section of Nigerians have condemned the wearing of academic gown by the controversial Senator, Dino Menaye to the plenary of National Assembly as a slap on Ahmadu Bello University.
Menayo had been enmeshed in certificate scandal having claimed to have graduated from the university with a Degree in Geography, but got a temporary relief on Monday when Vice-iChancellor of the university confirmed that he was a graduate of the institution.
However, the Senator shocked the National Assembly and the world when on Tuesday appeared at the plenary with an academic gown, aimed to further butressed his claim that he was a university graduate.
But in swift response to Menaye action, number of participants on a social media, penpushing platform,vehemently kicked against the act, acussing the university to have compromised having allow such to happen and kept mute
In his own submission, Director of Communications, in the Department of Mascommunications, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Dr Goke Rauf,noted that the implication of wearing the university gown to assembly showed clearly that the institution has been compromised.
’The implication of the drama of wearing ABU gown to the National Assembly by Dino is simple: the institution has been compromised!’,Rauf wrote.
He called on need to investigate the source of the academic gown and how it got into the hand of the controversial federal lawmaker.
‘ Where did he get the gown? Only PhD graduands are given gowns for keep and its different from other categories of gowns. That Dino could access ABU gown and wear it the way he has done here is a betrayal and leaves many questions to be answered by ABU authorities.! This is outlandish!’,he emphasised
Similarly, another participants,Sulaiman Adebiyi posited that the development was a disgraced to the foremost university and the national assembly,stressing that such act was unbecoming.
‘This is very unbecoming and a disgrace to a revered Institution that should be busy with the business of law making. I know some people may not ‘buy this assertion’ but a spade be called a spade. This is fast becoming a ‘Baba Sala’ episode’,Adebiyi said.
The former media aide of Ex-Speaker House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, Kayode Odunaro in his own remark said Menaye was better described as bull in the China shop.
‘Many don’t know this Dino….an aluta dramatist of the highest order in an exalted position. I experienced him in the House of Reps when he took up the gauntlet against my then boss Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole. That episode ended in a free for all fight…..’,Odunaro recalled.
‘The Dino Brand I know is more of a bull in the China shop….the solutions to getting him out of the shop are few and may wreck the whole shop- legislature and executive inclusive…’,he wrote
The publisher of Cityvoice, an online Newspapers, Kayode Ogunbunmi in his own brief remark on the ugly development said , ‘You can actually buy your graduation gown, you know. Although that does not mean you should turn it into your office wear’
In the same vein, a legal practitioner on the platform,Goddaughter Adedeji wrote, ‘On point….I believe Nollywood can make a movie out of this sick drama..”
