Nigerians calling for Buhari’s return are ‘callous, selfish’ – Yoruba group

A group known as the Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association, YYSA,‎ has berated highly placed Nigerians calling for the immediate return of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a press release, the group described those allegedly mounting pressure on Buhari to make an immature return to the country as “selfish and callous.”

The statement signed by its President, Habib Olalekan Hammed said there is no sense in rushing the ailing president back home since his trip to the UK which was to get medical treatment has not yet been achieved

YYSA warned the presidency and those ‎calling for Buhari’s immature return at all cost to desist from the act, saying the best thing is to allow the President enjoy full medical care and pray for his quick recovery.‎

The statement reads: “It would amount to homicide to influence the president to come to Nigeria just to feign being medically alright or assure Nigerians that his condition is mild.”

“Any attempt to rush President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria for political or personal interests of some people is callous and a ploy to put the country into contrived mourning since the president has not been certified medically alright by his doctors.

“Only those who do not care about the future of this country are calling for the president’s arrival even if it is just to show up and go back to the UK to complete his medical treatment.

“Why do we have to force an indisposed person to work and risk his life when we have a Vice President on ground already manning the affairs of the country in acting capacity and he is doing ‎his best. It is better we endure missing our President than losing him.”
