New JAMB Registrar Resolves Over 5,000 Pending Complaints in Five Days
The newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Segun Aina, has resolved more than 5,000 pending complaints from candidates and other stakeholders within five days of assuming the initiative.
The complaints, which had lingered for varying periods, included difficulties with creating profile codes, biometric failures, payment-related issues, inappropriate examination centres, e-PIN challenges, technical problems and difficulties uploading required documents.
According to a statement by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, the development followed Professor Aina’s decision to strengthen the Board’s Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) Unit to ensure faster resolution of outstanding complaints.
Benjamin disclosed that the Registrar temporarily relocated his seat to the SERVICOM Unit to gain first-hand knowledge of the challenges being experienced by candidates and other clients.
The move, according to the statement, enabled Professor Aina to directly engage with the complaints and facilitate their prompt resolution.
The Registrar’s decision is said to demonstrate his commitment to improving JAMB’s service delivery and leveraging strategic communication to reposition the Board.
The Board said the initiative was also aimed at ensuring that candidates receive services that are commensurate with the fees they pay.
The complaints addressed included cases involving candidates who could not create new profile codes because they no longer had access to telephone numbers used during previous registrations.
Other issues resolved involved biometric authentication failures, payment difficulties, e-PIN challenges, unsuitable examination venues, technical glitches and problems with uploading documents.
JAMB said the Registrar’s hands-on approach was part of efforts to make the Board more responsive and improve the experience of candidates seeking its services.
