New golfing estate to be ready by 2022- Obaseki promises
The construction of the golfing estate will be in partnership with Mixta Nigeria, through the development of a 72-hectare estate, in which 50-hectare will be for the golfing estate.
Obaseki stated this during the presentation of trophies and prizes at the Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament held on Saturday night at the Benin Club Golf section (BCGS), GRA, Benin City.
Over one hundred and fifty golfers and dignitaries across Nigeria participated in the two days event, among them were Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki; the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu; Chief of Staff, Chief Taiwo Akerele; Captain of the BCGS, Osagie Nehikhare, and many others.
However, he reiterated his administration’s commitment to sports development in the state, vowing that more attention would be paid to the state’s sports sector to sustain the recent strides in various games.
The elated governor hinted that the game of golf has helped him tremendously in focusing on the ball of governance in the last two years, and that the evidence of good governance is there for all to see.
“We are partnering with the company for the Emotan Gardens on Sakpomba Road. We want to build another estate on a 72-hectare land. About 50-hectare of the estate will be for golfing. There are plans to have the new golfing estate ready by 2022,” he said.
