The recent turn around in the game of para-powerlifting in Ogun State has been attributed to the inspiration drawn from the usage of the new equipment donated by Prince Kunle Soname to the state Para-Powerlifting Association.
The Chairman of the association, Deacon Gbolahan Eweje expressed this in a chat with Daily Dispatch after the trial for the National Sports Festival billed for Benin City, Edo State this month.
The elated chairman noted that ever since the association received the training equipment donated by Prince Soname, there have been great turn around in athletes trainings, as it has made them to be more dedicated and competitive.
Eweje, who also double as the 2nd Vice President, Nigeria Para-Powerlifting Federation remarked that Prince Soname has performed very well, adding that the 1st South-West Para-Powerlifting Developmental Championship (SPDC) that featured all the six states late last year in Ijebu Ode was supported by the state government and Hon. Soname too
While responding on his assessment of the trial, he said: “The trial was very amazing and we thanked God that our athletes performed well because of the new equipment that our patron, sponsor, Prince Kunle Soname gave us last year, and this made athletes to do well.
“Also, the equipment motivates them well because the one they were using before was very old and affecting them whenever they went out for competitions. But now the story has changed, even with what we witnessed at the 2020 World Championship hosted in Nigeria, Ogun athletes performed well.
