‘Natasha Akpoti once accused Kayode Fayemi of sexual harassment’

Cyril Fasuyi, senator representing Ekiti north, has claimed that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan previously accused Kayode Fayemi of sexual harassment.

Fasuyi made the allegation on Tuesday, moments after Akpoti-Uduaghan, lawmaker representing Kogi central, submitted a petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio over a similar claim.

Fayemi, a former governor of Ekiti state, served as minister of solid minerals during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term.

Fasuyi’s remarks came as his colleagues from the All Progressives Congress (APC) pressed for Akpabio to dismiss the petition, citing a senate rule that prohibits lawmakers from submitting petitions they personally authored.

He also said Fayemi would be presenting his own petition to the senate in response to the allegation.

The controversy follows the circulation of a viral video over the weekend, in which Akpoti-Uduaghan accused an unnamed minister of sexual harassment.

During Fasuyi’s speech, opposition senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) attempted to shout him down.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, visibly enraged, also stood up and protested: “I am being judged harshly”.

The senate session briefly descended into an uproar before Akpabio ruled that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition would be allowed to stand, despite resistance from some APC senators. Globalexcellenceonline
