NASS A Clog In The Will Of Progress-Amaechi

…..says APC Did Not Promise To Fix Nigeria In 1Yr

The minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi has said that All Progressive Congress APC did not promise Nigerians it would fix the country’s challenges within a year.

Amaechi then plead to Nigerians to wait till the end of four years for the change promised by the All Progressives Congress (APC), Daily Trust reports.

The minister also accused National Assembly of been a clog in the will of progress with the failure to approve its borrowing plan, which makes it impossible for the government to create jobs and fixing infrastructure problem.

Speaking on Monday, February 6, during a north central town hall meeting ‎for the people of Kogi, Niger and Kwara organized by the federal government in Ilorin, Kwara state, the minister said: “We did not promise you that those challenges will be solved in one year, if we promise you that those challenges would be solved in one year you would have given us one year but you gave us four years mandate so wait till the end of four years.”

Amaechi noted that the federal government has heard the cries of Nigerians that things were difficult but they would have to wait till the end of the four years mandate given to the administration before judging whether the government had performed or not‎.

The minister accused the National Assembly of holding the federal government back from fixing infrastructure problems and creating jobs with their failure to approve its borrowing plan.

The federal government has secured $7.5 billion loan for the construction of standard rail gauge from Lagos to Kano.

Amaechi said the loan which was secured from a Chinese bank and waiting for approval of the National Assembly is part of the $30 billion loan the federal government seeks to take.

He urged Nigerians to impress it on the National Assembly to approve the loan for work on the project to commence.
