N7.65billion fraud: Senator Orji Kalu to spend 12 years behind bars
Following the conviction of former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kau by the Federal High Court in Lagos this morning (December 5, 2019) in a N7.65n fraud charge, Justice Mohammad Idris has sentenced to a maximum of 12 years imprisonment. This was in addition to other multiple sentences ranging from three to five years on 27 counts.
Other than Mr Kalu, his two other accomplices, Slok Nigeria Limited (said to be owned by Kalu) and Udeh Udeogu, who was director of finance and accounts at the Abia State Government House during Kalu’s tenure as governor, were also found guilty of N7.65bn fraud, and Mr Udeogu got multiple sentences between 10 years and 3 years, while the company was ordered to be wound up and its assets forfeited to the federal government.
