N1bn War Chest For Yayi As Supporters Rally Ahead of Ogun 2027

Friends and political associates of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, have raised over N1 billion to support his ambition for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

The funds were mobilised through the “Friends of Yayi Support Initiative,” a platform set up to coordinate contributions from supporters. Records obtained by The Eagle Online indicate that donations came from a broad coalition of politicians, business leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders across Ogun State.

As of Monday night, the initiative had recorded N967.4 million in contributions. However, sources confirmed that the total had surpassed N1 billion as of press time, making it one of the most significant early fundraising drives ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.

Among the notable contributors, Hon. Kayode Jelili Amusan, who previously stepped down for Adeola, donated N25 million. Senator Lanre Tejuoso emerged as the highest individual donor with N40 million.

Other major donations included N30 million each from Alhaji Ibrahim Egungbohun (popularly known as IBD Dende) and Chief Bode Mustapha. Dr. Isiak Kunle Salako contributed N26 million, while Senator Lekan Mustapha, Asiwaju Tele Ogunjobi, and Hon. Bukola Olopade donated N20 million each.

Several individuals also gave N10 million each, including Dr. Fred Omojole Omolayo, Fatai Adesegun, Dr. Tunde Osinowo, Alhaji Isiaq Abass Saccobass, Alhaji Akeem Ibrahim (HIMRA), and others.

Traditional rulers were not left out, with Oba Adesegun Alowonle of Emuren donating N10 million and Oba Kazeem Adesina, the Osobia of Makun, contributing N5 million.

Additional contributors included Hon. Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi and Pastor Tunde Osho alongside associates, who each gave N25 million, as well as several political figures who donated between N5 million and N10 million.

The scale of fundraising highlights the expanding political network around Adeola as consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 race. Observers say the financial backing could further consolidate his influence within Ogun State’s political landscape as the contest gradually gathers momentum.
