Muslim MP who called Taliban “our brothers” loses seat in election

Canada’s Liberal Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Maryam Monsef, who immigrated to Canada on the pretext that she was an Afghanistan-born refugee, but was really born in Iran, lost her seat in Monday’s snap election.
Jihad Watch reports that Monsef made news far and wide for referencing the Taliban as “our brothers” less than a month earlier.
Her name will eventually be forgotten, but she will forever remain “The Infamous MP Who Called The Taliban Our Brothers.”
A controversial member of the Trudeau Liberal caucus, she won’t be returning to Ottawa.
Peterborough-Kawartha MP Maryam Monsef lost her seat Monday to former TV personality and political rookie Michelle Ferreri in the only southern Ontario upset on election night.
Monsef garnered backlash early in the campaign for referring to the Taliban “our brothers” during a press conference highlighting Canada’s failed evacuation of its citizens and military contractors out of the besieged city of Kabul.
