MOTORISTS, RESIDENTS APPLAUDS EFFICIENCY OF TRACE

Motorists plying Ogun State roads and residents have gave kudos to the Traffic Compliance and Enlightenment Corps,(TRACE), over it efficiency in road control across the length and breadth of the state.
The scores of people interviewed by our correspondent posited that, the Seni Ogunyemi led agency has continued to show its  competence and commitment to duty, inspite of manpower and other  challenges being faced‎.
Number of them who spoke said, the roles of the agency has also reduced accident rates in the state and environs, just as they called on government to provide more facilities and equipment for the agency to further aid their operations.
A motorist, Dayo Akinpelu while speaking said what amazed him most was that, the officials are ubiquitous despite the shortage of manpower, and they are always responding to road crisis in a hawk dispatch manner.
‘The officials are superb, you wonder what magic wand they use,to attend to any and all disturbing situation ‎across the state, inspite of manpower shortage. They need to be further encouraged’,he said.
In his own submission, a female motorist, Bukola Onasanya said she has always been impressed by the performances of the corps both within Abeokuta state capital and other towns in the state and environs.
‘They are found everywhere, whenever there is road traffic problem in any part of the state, within a twinkle, you find them at the scene doing the needful. Honestly speaking the agency deserve merit award’,she stated.
A member of penpushing platform, a social media,Chief Femi Shodunke  in his own view said, having closely monitor the agency activities on platform, he was convinced that, the agency parades credible and capable hands.
Shodunke, resident in Canada, however, encouraged the management not to relent on its efforts ,just as he advised the state government on need to recruit more hands, pointing out that, this will address the problem of overwork, which may have negative health effect on the officials.
‘I want to use this medium to encourage the agency to keep the good work going, and at same time appealed to state government to recruit additional hands,to reduce workload being experienced by the corps. This would addressed any unforseen negative health effect on the officials’ ,he said
Another motorist, Michael Taiwo who shared his experience said he personally experienced the effectiveness of the agency on two occasions and he fell in love with the management
‘I personally experienced the effectiveness of TRACE last month in front of my family house at Ejinrin Rd, Ijebu-Ode. My brother on his way to work at Abeokuta was dropping off in my “assigned car” so he could pick his car that was parked in the compound’,he narrated.
‘On getting to the house, there was this Dangote Flour trailer blocking the entrance to the house due to some mechanical fault that prevented it from climbing over the Ondo Road/Ejinrin Road flyover. Hence, it had to reverse and “luckily” for my family ended up blocking our gate since that was how far the engine would work and no more until it is fixed’.
‘This was some few minutes to 8:00 am on a Monday.
See palaver o, I couldn’t go to Lagos as planned and same with my brother to work meaning we’re done due to the negligence of a company that couldn’t maintain a fleet of “functioning” vehicles’.
‘To cut the story short, TRACE was involved and they promptly responded by giving the trailer driver an ultimatum of an agreed time on “the driver’s term” which we consented to.  The driver couldn’t meet up with agreement so TRACE had to tow the vehicle to their facility. What happened next? I do not know but the fact is that the system worked as it is supposed to’.
‘That same day, I witnessed another uncommon valor and effectiveness of this body in Benin-Sagamu-Abeokuta axis few miles to the Lagos-Ibadan/Benin-Sagamu-Abeokuta expressway axis where a major accident was blocking both sides of the road’.
‘ I watched the TRACE officials take control of the traffic and the prompt removal of the affected vehicles.
Kudos to TRACE staff and its management. We need more of such good news from all arms of government in Nigeria particularly the law enforcement. So God help us’,he stressed.
