MIDNIGHT THIEVES CART AWAY TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROL EQUIPMENT IN OGUN
Midnight suspected thieves have carted away traffic light control equipment,which are installed for the busy Ibara roundabout bridge in Abeokuta.
The Public Relations Officer of Traffic Compliance and Enlightement Corps,TRACE,Babatunde Akinbiy who confirmed the the ,the vandals carried out the operation at odd hour of Saturday.
He added that, the thieves took away two of the four batteries powering the traffic light control equipment, and no arrest made as at the time of filing this report
‘Sources reaching TRACE indicate that 2 of the 4 batteries powering the traffic light control equipment were stolen overnight by unknown persons’,Akinbiyi said.
Akinbiyi said in the main time,the agency would be deploying more operatives to the axis to regulate aand control movement.
The spokesman said Investigation was continuing by the police and Bureau of Transport officials to fish out the perpetrators.
‘In view of this development, the traffic signal lights Akin-Olugbade, Sapon and Iya-Mortuary needs to be secured to prevent a repeat there,he noted..
Meanwhile,he added that,the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport, Gbenga Opesanwo, has promised that the stolen batteries would be replaced.
