Mark votes in Benue ….. prays the wishes of the people prevail

Former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) and all relevant authorities involved in the conduct of the elections to ensure that the result reflects the wishes of the electorate.
Senator Mark said shortly after voting at his Otukpo ward one, Benue State today that democracy is best served when the wishes of the people are respected.
In a statement made available to news today by his media aide, Mt Paul Mumeh,Senator Mark who voted along with his wife, Helen stated that election should ordinarily be seen as a referendum about the acceptance or rejection of candidates or parties by the people.
He stressed that Nigerians should accept democracy and its all tenets, rules and regulations saying that ” if the rules are not subverted, democracy remains the best form of government because it is participatory and representative”.
Senator Mark frowned at a situation where some citizens resort to self help or violence to obstruct the due process of democracy pointing that such a situation is retrogressive and barbaric.
He believes that politics is a noble path to service to community and country and should not be played in a manner akin to going to war.
He prayed that the election brings out the best among Nigerians in order to serve the people in a way that would engender peace, justice, unity and progress of the nation.
