Man 26 Arrested For Killing Wife In Ogun

A 26 year old husband, Mathew Oguntade has been arrested by Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife.
The Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed this on Monday to journalists in Abeokuta,stating that the ugly development occurred in Owode-Ijako town of the state.
Oyeyemi said, the couple engaged in a scuffle with themselves on January 13 in their matrimonial home located behind African Church,Owode-Ijako town over a minor disagreement.
He explained that, the scuffle which started midnight became sour when the husband strangulated his wife(Mary),threw the body outside through their window and ran away.
‘The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Mathew Oguntade ‘m’ of behind Anglican Church, Owode-Ijako for killing his 20yrs old wife, Mary Oguntade’,police spokesman said.
‘The incident happened on the 13th of January, 2017 at about 01:00 am in the mid-night when the couple engaged in fighting due to a minor disagreement between them’,Oyeyemi said.
He added further that,the Community Development Association Chairman of the Community, Iskilu Kareem who reported the case to the Police said that he received a telephone call from one of the vigilante group in the area that the couple are into serious scuffle.
He said, but before he could get to their house, the husband had strangled his wife to death, threw the body outside through their window and ran away.
‘The DPO Sango Ota, SP Akinsola Ogunwale led detectives to the scene and removed the corpse to General Hospital, Ifo morgue before launching serious manhunt for the suspect. Their efforts paid off the following day when the suspect was apprehended and taken to custody’,Oyeyemi said.
He said,the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has directed that suspects be transferred to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department Eleweran Abeokuta for discrete investigation.
The command spokesman said, the commissioner has appealed to members of the Public to always alert Police whenever their neighbour is engaging in fistcuff in order to avert this type of ugly incidence
