Maiduguri Blast: Security Forces Intensify Crackdown as Group Urges Calm, Condoles Borno
The Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa Support Initiative has urged residents to remain calm following a deadly explosion in Maiduguri, the Maiduguri capital, while assuring that security forces are intensifying efforts to end insurgency across the country.
In a statement released on Monday, the group expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Borno State over the tragic bomb blast that struck the city. The statement, signed by its Convener, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, strongly condemned the attack and described it as a painful reminder of ongoing security challenges.
The Initiative relayed a message from its Grand Patron, Christopher Gwabin Musa, reassuring Nigerians that the perpetrators of terrorism and their sponsors would soon be brought to justice. According to the statement, ongoing military operations are being intensified to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace.
It further emphasized that the nation’s security architecture, under the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains fully committed to tackling insecurity. The group noted that the Defence Minister is working in close coordination with all security agencies to ensure that violent threats are decisively addressed.
Describing the Maiduguri incident as tragic but not defeating, the Initiative said it has only strengthened the resolve of security forces. It maintained that troops are engaged in relentless operations aimed at ending insurgency and ensuring the safety of citizens.
The group also called on Nigerians, especially those in affected communities, to support security agencies by providing credible information and remaining vigilant, expressing optimism that sustained peace and stability will soon be achieved.
