Local Government system must be rejigged to make it work

Honourable Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, member of the House of Representative, representing Obio/Akpor federal constituency of the State has called on Nigerians not to lose faith in the local government system of governance.
Rep. Chinda made the appeal while speaking with journalists at his house after casting his vote for the local government election in Rivers State.
According to him, “I see little skirmishes here and there, accross the country; this is not enough to conclude that this system of governance will not work. We need to regig the local government to make it work”.
Speaking on the polls, he said “In my ward, we do not have issues at all, for the first time in Rivers State, no gunshots, no violence, this is highly commendable. Whoever is dissatisfied with the process can approach the court.”
On his accessment of the current administration in the State, Hon. Chinda noted that “what we are seeing surpasses what we were expecting; the Governor is carrying out unprecedented projects, there is no local Government in this state that do not have one project or the other.
“This road to his house was not passable but now, the road has been dualized and completed, why will the people not be happy”, he queried.
Also speaking after casting his vote, at unit 2, ward 9 Obio/Akpor local government area, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, expressed satisfaction for the electoral process and urged the Independent Electoral commission (INEC) to learn from the Rivers State Independent Electoral commission (RSIEC) how to conduct a peaceful and credible election”.
