Lent: House of Rep. PDP caucus leader urges Christians to pray for the peace, unity and security of Nigeria
Leader, PDP Caucus, House of Representatives, Rep. Kingsley Chinda has called on Christians in the country to use this period of lent to pray for the peace, unity and security of the nation.
Rep. Chinda who is representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency of Rivers State, in the House of Representatives urged Christians to fervently pray for Nigeria and mankind.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, Rep. Chinda said the situation in Nigeria calls for serious concern and prayers, adding that the peace, unity and security of the nation and her citizens is no longer guaranteed as things are falling apart while the government continues to wallow in self denial.
“On behalf of the PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives, we call on all Christians in Nigeria to pray fervently for this nation in particular and humanity at large as Lent begins.
” Our religious leaders should spiritually be awake and pray fervently for the unity and survival of this county.
“Everyday, Christians are been persecuted. Innocent souls face avoidable death for no just cause. The peace, unity and nationhood of our country is gradually fading away; life is becoming brutish and short in Nigeria; our economy is plunged into deeper debts; things are falling apart and the centre can no longer hold yet our government is living in self denial.
” Please pray for the country. Let’s all call on God to have mercy upon our nation and intervene in our predicament so that before the end of the forty days prayer and fasting victory will be ours.”
Christians all over the world begins annual forty days prayer and fasting Thursday as it marks ass Wednesday today.
