Lateef Jakande Buried In Lagos

Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, the first civilian Governor of Lagos State who died Thursday has been buried in Lagos.

The former governor, an apostle of free education, free health and who embarked on a massive housing scheme for the masses was buried after a short Islamic prayer.

Most of the former governors in Lagos and the southwest were present at his burial ground in Ikoyi.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former governor of the state and a leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress, said they were at the burial programme to celebrate the life and times of Pa Jakande and not to mourn.

Jakande, one of the disciples of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo died at the age of 91.
