Late Salome Adaidu: Gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi sentence to death

A High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sentenced gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for the murder of Salome Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who was reportedly his girlfriend.

Justice Simon Aboki found Ajayi guilty of culpable homicide, a capital offence under Section 221 of the Penal Code applicable in northern Nigeria.

During his trial, Ajayi admitted to killing Adaidu in a moment of rage, accusing her of infidelity. He reportedly showed no remorse for his actions.

“I didn’t plan to kill her. She was always cheating and hiding things from me. I got angry when I saw her chatting with other guys on her phone — that’s why I killed her,” he confessed.
