Lamido describes APC led government as party of afflictions
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), frontline aspirant for the party presidential ticket, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as a party of pain, hunger and evil and lacking in ideology and philosophy.
Lamido disclosed this on Thursday in Benin City, while addressing the PDP executives and members on his ambition to contest for the presidential sole ticket of the party ahead of the primaries later in the year.
The former Governor of Jigawa State noted: “We don’t have strong institutions. The economy is weak, no security, no bureaucracy, and we have no institutions to protect all of us in terms of justice and fairness.
“In PDP, we made mistakes. We are called thieves, Boko Haram, evil. Everyday, we are demonized. But with this party of saints called APC, where are we today? It is a party which has no historic foundation, no philosophy, ideology. It is a party of pain, hunger and evil.
“Today, we are more divided as a people. There is more hunger in the country tha in the past, more pains, agonies. The country is being snowballed economically.
“Nobody in the APC, including Buhari, has vision, human feelings, compassion, not caring, but only unleash pains because that want to destroy people’s living standard to a level that they will all become perpetually poor.
“Leadership is geared to raise people, motivate and give hope and confidence. All those that make APC government thick are former PDP members, they are former governor’s, senators, ministers, ambassadors, amongst others.
“The PDP you maligned are now the prominent members of the party and if you say we are thieves, then the government in Abuja is an evil people. The former PDP are the ones that produce the APC government in Abuja. How do we build a nation by maligning each others? Where there is no love, no respect.”
Furthermore, “The journey in 2019 is not for people of chicken heart, but for people who are courageous, who can say ‘to hell with you, you cannot do it. They are professional liars, they are evil and they can do anything. So, please, Nigerians, 2019 is not for people with children heart.
Nigeria is not for Buhari, is not for Lamido, because there has been Nigeria during Tafawa Balewa, Sultan of Sokoto, Awolowo. They had all gone, yet, there is still Nigeria. By the time we are all gone, there will still be Nigeria. So, nobody should come here and destroy it, so, please, be on the watch out.
“We must save this country. PDP has a duty to all Nigerians, PDP has a date with history, we have a heritage to defend, we will never leave the party. My aspiration is not desperate, my aspiration is a noble,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, in his response, said the presidential hopeful’s speech was a reflection of his political knowledge of where we are and where we will be.
“Lamido is one of the few of those still standing even in the face of harassment to him and his family. You have remained as constant as the mother’s star. You are a man of courage. Our slogan, “PDP, rescue Nigeria” is a clear picture of what we have on our hands. Any attempt by anyone or Buhari to postpone the election will be resisted,” Orbih said.
