Lagos Federal High Court orders 48 suspected fraudsters to report to DSS

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has directed 48 individuals to present themselves at the Department of State Services (DSS) office in Shangisha, Lagos, over allegations of fraud and unlawful financial dealings.

According to a report by The News Guru (TNG), the order was issued on January 12, 2026, in Suit No. FHC/L/MISC/649/2025, arising from a case between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Yakubu Idris alongside 47 others.

The court mandated that the affected persons must report to the Lagos Command of the DSS within 60 days of the publication of the notice.

It explained that the directive was intended to give the individuals an opportunity to clear their names in connection with ongoing investigations into suspected fraud-related activities.

The court further warned that failure to comply with the order could attract additional legal consequences.

Those listed in the suit are from various parts of the country, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Nasarawa, Kano, Imo, Delta, and Rivers states. The ages of the individuals range between 24 and 76 years.

Among those named are Yakubu Idris, Ajibade Lukman Olawale, and Owolabi Adesina Samuel, while other names appear in the full court document circulated with the public notice.

The directive was described as a compulsory legal order, not a voluntary invitation, and forms part of an ongoing DSS investigation.

The case is one of several before the court aimed at curbing sophisticated fraud schemes and illicit financial flows involving individuals across multiple states.
