Lagos APC Chairman, Ojelabi, Royal Fathers Attend Oshodi-Isolo LG Mega Empowerment

… Party Chair Commends Council chair for laudable performance

The Lagos state Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Oyefolu Ojelabi, members of the state Executive Council, and Royal Fathers on Friday attended the mega empowerment program of the Oshodi Isolo Local Government under the chairmanship of Otunba Kehinde Oloyede-Almaroof where several working tools were distributed to artisans and vulnerable members of the local government.

The Empowerment Program which was held at the council Secretariat was a cynosure of eyes as items such as Hair Dryers, Deep Freezers, Vulcanizing Machines, Point of Sales Machines, Popcorn machines, and others were distributed free of charge to the vulnerable members of the society who were carefully chosen by a special committee appointed by the council Boss.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the distribution committee, Hon Taiwo Ayedun, commended the chairman for staying on the path of progress since the assumption of office.

He disclosed that the beneficiaries were chosen after a special ad-hoc committee was set up to verify the claims of indigent applicants, and those chosen were ascertained to be truly in dire need of the tools.

He informed that the flag off of the program, which kicked off on Friday, will be concluded on Sunday, to avoid rowdiness and stampede during the process, given the large number of beneficiaries of the mega empowerment.

Otunba Oloyede-Almaroof, in his speech at the mega event, reeled out the wonderful and impactful programs his administration had delivered in his 100 days in office for the second term.

In his words, “we came into office with a clear mind and vision regarding what we wanted to achieve and how we intended to positively impact the lives of our people. Distinguished party leaders and guests, I dare to say that since we assumed office, we have strictly adhered to the party’s principles and manifesto, and today’s event is yet another testimony to that commitment.

He mentioned 50 roads completed in his first term, 45 boreholes dug for residents, distribution of over 12,000 General Certificate of Education (GCE) and JAMB forms

In the health sector, Otunba Oloyede-Almaroof posited that two ambulance buses were procured and postnatal kits, rehabilitation of Ogunoloko primary health centre, while the Ogunlana health centre reconstruction work is ongoing and on completion would be equipped with surgical wards and a pharmacy as well as other medical equipment.

He mentioned his administration’s interventions in the provision of food items, cash gifts, and festive packages to residents, elderly citizens, and traders.

Otunba Oloyede-Almaroof further posited that the positive strides of the president and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the increment of federal allocations to the local government, and as such, he endorsed him for a second term in office. The endorsement was greeted with applause from the crowd, stressing that the positive effects of his policies are already trickling down to the local governments, enabling us to deliver infrastructural development and cater for our people”.

In line with the endorsement of the president, Otunba Oloyede-Almaroof equally announced that the newly constructed party office will be commissioned.

In his words, “items to be distributed today include deep freezers, sewing machines, grinding machines, popcorn machines, makeup kits, generating sets, barbing kits, POS machines and customized stands, burners, gas cylinders, Vulcanizing Machines, and hair dryers. We will be sharing one hundred motorcycles (Okada) to beneficiaries before Christmas.”

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the chairman for his benevolence and were assured of proper usage of the tools received.

Pastor Ojelabi commended the council chairman, describing the projects as laudable and the best, saying history will be kind to him.

The party chairman also commended the council endorsement of President Tinubu, saying he is the first local government chairman to openly endorse the president for a second term.

The party chairman said he is proud of Otunba Oloyede-Almaroof’s performance saying his performance aligns with the party’s manifesto.
