Kwara Under Siege: Stop Terrorists Attacks In Kwara State
By Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies
I Princess Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, I am writing to express my utmost concern and outrage over the escalating terrorist, jihadist and bandit attacks in Kwara State, as a Princess of Ira, Kwara State, and a concerned Nigerian citizen. The recent wave of violence has left our communities in shambles, claiming innocent lives, and displacing many residents.
As a concerned citizen and a voice for the voiceless, I condemn these heinous acts and demand immediate action from our government and security agencies to put an end to this reign of terror.
The people of Kwara State have been subjected to unimaginable brutality, kidnappings, and killings. The attacks on our communities, schools, and places of worship are unacceptable and must stop.
Just in this year alone – 2025, here’s a detailed timeline of terrorist and bandit attacks in Kwara State, Nigeria:
- June 30, 2025: Armed bandits ambushed people in Gada Woro community, Edu Local Government Area, killing three vigilantes and injuring several security operatives.
- July 7, 2025: Bandits attacked Tsaragi community, Edu LGA, abducting a businessman named Suleiman Ndana.

- August 30, 2025: Bandits stormed a mosque in Patigi and shot dead 45-year-old Alhaji Dahiru.
- September 1, 2025: Armed men invaded Sabongeri village, killing two people and abducting another.
- October 3, 2025: A notorious kidnap kingpin, Maidawa, was killed in airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force in the forests around Isanlu-Isin.
- October 5, 2025: Nine Local Government Areas in Kwara State were under siege by bandits, who demanded food and drinks as ransom.
- October 13, 2025: The Nigerian Army rescued nine kidnapped victims.
- October 28, 2025: The Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade handed over 23 rescued hostages to the Governor of Kwara State.
- November 9, 2025: The Nigerian Air Force carried out precision air interdiction missions, striking bandit camps in Kwara State.
- November 11, 2025: The Nigerian Air Force killed terrorists and bandits in Borno, Kwara, and Katsina States.
- November 2025: Bandits abducted 11 residents in Isapa community, Ekiti Local Government Area.
These attacks have led to the displacement of many residents, and the Kwara State government has closed 45 public schools in the affected areas. The Christian community is seriously affected. Therefore, I call on the Federal Government, the Kwara State Government, and all security agencies to take concrete steps to:
- Secure our borders: Strengthen border control to prevent terrorists and bandits from infiltrating our communities.
- Increase military presence: Deploy more troops to affected areas to protect civilians and combat terrorists.
- Improve intelligence gathering: Enhance intelligence gathering to identify and apprehend terrorist suspects.
- Support victims: Provide adequate support and compensation to victims of terrorist attacks and their families.
We will not be intimidated or silenced. We demand peace, security, and justice for all Kwarans and Nigerians.
I urge all well-meaning citizens to join me in condemning these attacks and demanding action from our leaders.
Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you!
Bishop Prof Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies
