Kwankwaso too busy for faceless ghost BoT members
By Abdulmalik Suleiman
Nigeria is a country where we have many political jobbers masquerading as politicians. They pretend to mean well for the country yet their attitude runs contrary to what they portray or project to the people whom they pretend to serve.
Their role is to at all times put a clog in the wheel of progress whenever the society is on a forward march to greatness and progress.
These are the set of characters who in their warp imagination are jostling for the soul of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with the National Leader, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in recent times having become the face of the party amongst Nigerians.
It is to the credit of the former Kano State Governor that a life was breathed into the moribund party when he (Kwankwaso) opted to contest the Presidency on the platform of the party, also victorious in Kano by winning the governorship, two senators and many HoRs and several state’s assembly.
Until Kwankwaso’s sojourn into the NNPP, the little the public knew of the party was that it had its one room office with single table and chair in an obscure location in Mararaba. Nothing had initially been accomplished by those who claim to be the ‘owners’ of the party than to use it as a vehicle to trade at every election season.
They tried to do that too with the former federal lawmaker when he sought their cooperation to lead the country but he was adroit enough to talk them out of their unbridled political mercantilism.
Kwankwaso tried very hard to make them see the bigger picture of winning the election but all that didn’t make any appreciable impact on their understanding as they continued to seek to trade the fortunes of the party for filthy lucre.
This attitude is still being displayed by these elements who are trying to snatch the NNPP from those who mean well for it and by extension, the country at large.
Unfortunately for them, Sen. Kwankwaso is pre-occupied with his lifelong ambition of reworking Nigeria to the path of greatness using the NNPP as the vehicle to achieve such.
The Kano born politician will not in anyway be derailed by the rants and antic of the Boniface Aniebonam led ghost Board of Trustees that is yet to be recognized by the various organs of the party. The only recognized body by law and INEC is NWC and NEC and not any faceless body, rather, Sen. Kwankwaso would be well focused on the task of turning the party into a winning platform to wrest the control of the country from the rudderless All Progressives Congress (APC) led government.
Their expulsion is a welcome development and a good omen to supporters and numerous members across the country. It’s a good riddance!
