Kogi Governor Ododo converts all vigilantes into civil servants

In a major security policy shift, the Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has formally absorbed all vigilante operatives across the state into the civil service.

Governor Ododo announced the development today, describing it as a strategic move to strengthen grassroots security, boost community intelligence networks, and ensure accountability within local security structures.

According to the governor, transitioning vigilantes into official government roles will help professionalize their operations and integrate them more effectively into the state’s security architecture.

He noted that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to supporting those who have been instrumental in maintaining peace at the community level, while also ensuring they receive formal training, structured welfare, and clear administrative oversight.

The newly absorbed personnel are expected to undergo further screening and orientation as part of their integration into the civil service.
