Kano Lawmaker, Hon. Ghali Mustapha Tijjani, Dumps NNPP
Hon. Ghali Mustapha Tijjani, Ph.D, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ajingi/Albasu/Gaya Federal Constituency of Kano State, has resigned his membership of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The lawmaker’s resignation was confirmed on Friday through sources familiar with the development, who disclosed that Tijjani formally communicated his decision to the party leadership in his constituency.
Although the details surrounding his exit were not immediately made public, the development comes amid growing internal tensions within the NNPP in Kano State, which has witnessed a wave of high-profile defections in recent days
.

Hon. Tijjani’s defection further weakens the NNPP’s representation from Kano at the federal level and adds to the evolving political realignments ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
As of the time of filing this report, the lawmaker has yet to officially announce his next political destination, while the NNPP leadership has not issued a formal response to his resignation.
Political observers believe the move may have significant implications for the balance of power in Kano State, particularly within the National Assembly, as parties position themselves for upcoming political battles.
