Kano Government To Crack Down On Groups Promoting LGBT Rights

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has issued a warning against any group suspected of advocating for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ+) rights within the state.
The governor’s directive follows escalating tensions surrounding the alleged activities of organizations purportedly promoting same-sex marriage.
The state Commissioner for Information, Baba Dantiye, made this known to journalists on Sunday in Kano, addressing concerns about an alleged agreement by the Federal Government regarding LGBTQ rights.
The commissioner stated that the governor has instructed the Hisbah Board to take action against organizations advocating for LGBT rights in the state.
Dantiye said the state government will not accept any agreement that promotes the activities of gays and lesbians, as it contravenes the norms and values of the people of Kano and breaches the state’s moral standards.
“I spoke with the governor, and he expressed his disapproval of the said agreement, even though it has not yet been confirmed. He assured me that there is no room for LGBT activities in Kano.
