Kano Gov Yusuf: My Return in 2027 Is God’s Decision, Not Man’s

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, says his political destiny in 2027 is determined by God alone and not by any individual or group.

The governor made this known on Tuesday night during the inauguration of the Shura Council at Government House, Kano. He recalled that in the 2023 elections, many dismissed his chances until, according to him, divine intervention cleared the path to his victory.

“Leadership is never in the hands of man. God installs and removes leaders as He wishes,” Yusuf declared in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Reflecting on his political journey, Yusuf admitted that winning office came at a heavy cost.

“I went through the most difficult period of my life after the 2023 elections. Through trials, tears, and turbulence, I remain committed to serving the people of Kano. I am here today only because of God, not because of any individual,” he said.

The governor emphasised that his attention is fixed on delivering projects that impact citizens rather than chasing political ambitions.

“Whether I contest in 2027 or not, my responsibility is to ensure meaningful programmes that will improve the lives of the people,” he added.

Acknowledging that political power is transient, he remarked: “I know that one day I will vacate this office. That is why I am working tirelessly to transform Kano physically, socially, and morally.”

Yusuf also expressed concern over the surge in drug abuse, thuggery, and other social vices among youths. To tackle the problem, he announced the establishment of a new women’s reformatory centre to rehabilitate victims of drug abuse and similar challenges.

He further appealed to Islamic scholars to support government efforts, describing them as a trusted voice among the people.

“You are the only institution the people listen to with open ears,” the governor said.

Despite mounting challenges, Yusuf assured residents of his unwavering resolve.

“Challenges may come, tears may fall, but my commitment to transforming Kano is stronger than ever,” he declared.
