President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, whose tenure was initially set to end on August 31, 2025.

The announcement was contained in a statement released Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the President granted the extension to allow Adeniyi consolidate key reform efforts and see through major initiatives of the current administration.

Among the initiatives cited are the modernisation of Customs operations, the full rollout of the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s compliance with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.
