JAMB announces new age limit, cut off mark

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially adopted 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to sources within JAMB headquarters in Abuja, the board also fixed 100 as the minimum score for polytechnics and colleges of education, while colleges of nursing are to accept a slightly higher benchmark of 140.

Discovererngr.com reports that the decision was reached during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions on Tuesday.

JAMB officials stressed that no institution is allowed to admit any candidate who scores below the minimum threshold set for their category.

The announcement comes just hours after the Federal Government reiterated that the official age for entry into any tertiary institution remains 16 years.
