INEC donates chairs, public address system to Edo NUJ

In fulfilment of its desire to build an effective relationship with the media, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has donated items worth hundreds of thousand naira to Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council.
Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Emmanuel Alex Hart, accompanied by Dr. Richard Ntui, the Administrative Secretary, and other officials were at the Council secretariat in Benin City to present public address system, and 50 units of plastic chairs.
The presentation ceremony held at the council lounge had in attendance, executive members of the union led by its chairman, Comrade Roland Osakue, veteran journalists and other journalists too.
While presenting the items, Dr. Hart revealed that the delayed in the fulfilment of the request was not deliberate, but due to transfer of his predecessor, adding that governance is a continuous thing.
“It hunts and beats me everyday that I passed through the frontage of this secretariat, since these items have not been delivered. My predecessor told me about the Union request, and when I came for familiarization visit, I was told about it. This is just the beginning of many great things to come.
“I am soliciting for cooperation on balance reporting from the media. Let’s work hard together towards the success of the elections coming on. Help us to report sincerely and correctly according to what you see,” he appealed.
In the same vein, the council chairman, Comrade Osakue expressed gratitude to the commissioner for deeming it fit to fulfil the request, while he assured him of harmonious and cordial relationship more than ever before in the discharge of members duties.
