INEC cancel Elections in Boni area in River state – Ballot snatching

The independent national electoral commission INEC said the report brought to it’s notice on ballot box snatching in Akoko tunu boni area of River state meant no elections held in that area and a new date will be fixed for such election.

The director of  voters education and publicity festus Okoye said the commission is generally satisfied in most areas where elections were held.

“ 67.1 % of polling units started early while 16.72% of polling units started late but challenges were resolved immediately”.

Okoye disclose this during a press briefing in Abuja.

He further explained that according to guidelines of INEC smart card readers are mandatory, therefore any INEC official who deliberately refuse to use the smart card readers will be prosecuted.

Okoye added that all other complaint will be investigated and actions will be taken.
