IGP Disu Orders Major Redeployment of Senior Police Officers Nationwide
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved a sweeping redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force as part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and leadership capacity.
The directive, announced under the Force’s re-organization plan, is designed to enhance service delivery and ensure a more effective command structure through the strategic placement of personnel across commands, formations, and departments.
According to the new postings, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) have been assigned to key departments at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. Among them are AIG Ado Emmanuel to Research and Planning, AIG Joseph Eribo to Armament, AIG Miller G. Dantawaye to Operations, and AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche to Training and Development.
Others include AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo to Police Accounts and Budget, AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba to Legal Services, and AIG Ahmed Musa to Community Policing. Zonal deployments saw AIG Dahiru Mohammed posted to Zone 15, Maiduguri; AIG Dankombo Morris to Zone 4, Makurdi; AIG Bello Shehu to Zone 14, Katsina; and AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to Zone 2, Lagos.
The redeployment also affected Commissioners of Police (CPs), with new appointments across several state commands. CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya was posted to Jigawa, CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola to Oyo, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to Delta, CP Olubode Ojajuni to Ogun, and CP Michael Adegoroye Falade to Ekiti State Command.
Further postings include CP Yakubu Useni Dankaro to Adamawa, CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed to the Federal Capital Territory Command, CP Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai to Lagos, CP Morkwap Dongshal to Taraba, CP Ahmed Mohammed Bello to Zamfara, CP Umar Ali Fagge to Katsina, and CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan to Sokoto.
In addition, several CPs were assigned to specialized units and departments, including INTERPOL, the Special Protection Unit, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), SWAT, and community policing units.
The police leadership said the reshuffle reflects its commitment to professionalism, improved coordination, and effective policing nationwide, noting that the strategic postings are expected to bolster security operations and public confidence in the Force.
