IGCC, Asaba Hosts 12th Nigerian Police Games Golf Event

Battle for top medals in the golfing event at the ongoing 12th edition of Nigeria Police Games has teed-off on Wednesday at Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Asaba, Delta State.
Top policemen and women golfers were on course to maximise their potentials for gold medals which has been slated to be priority for automatic promotion for officers.
Though the biennial games being hosted by the Nigeria Police Force, Anambra Command is featuring all other sporting events, but due to non-availability of golf course in the state led to the hosting of the game in Asaba.
A total of twenty eight golfers comprising of ten ladies and eighteen men golfers representing various eight zones are currently participating at the two days event in Asaba.
The day one 18 holes stroke play event featured golfers from Federal Headquarters (FHQ), Abuja; Zone 1, Kano/Katsina/Jigawa; Zone 2, Lagos/Ogun; Zone 4, Jos/Nasarawa/Benue; Zone 6, Rivers/Akwa Ibom/Cross River/Ebonyi; Zone 7, Kaduna/Niger/FCT; Zone 11, Osun/Oyo/Osun, and Zone 12, Bauchi/Borno/Yobe.
Representing FHQ are seven golfers, they are Milo Ajah, Abubakar Safiyanu, Danladi Ado, Vincent Ibrahim (men’s category), while Rachael Danjuma, Amina Wilfred and Helen Ayo are playing in the ladies cadre.
Also, Kano Zone 1 is featuring only seven men golfers, they are Hassan Ali, Gambo Mohammed, Jafaru Musa; Adamu Saidu, Dauda Ahmed, Sanni Hamza, Ali IIbrahim.
From Lagos Zone 2 are six golfers, namely Akomolafe Oreoluwa (men), Agana Kessy, Alaba Adetunji, Naomi Audu, Angela Ojie, and Adewale Oluwatoyin in the ladies category.
The Jos Zone 4 has two golfers, namely Williams Okoh and Azi Daniel playing in men’s event only. Rivers Zone 6 and Kaduna Zone 7 are featuring Jackson Offem, and Ahmed Shehu respectively as their only candidate in the games.
Osun Zone 11 has the duo of David Ogunseye and Ojonla Kamoru, while Bauchi Zone 12 features only two lady golfers, Sarah Godwin and Ywalmoh Joniel.
However, the day two golfing action will hold today (Thursday), and it will feature stableford event, while the presentation of medals holds later in the day.
