ICPC Confirms Daily Dispatch Report on El-Rufai

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed the detention of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as part of an ongoing investigation.

In a statement released late Wednesday, the Commission’s Head of Media and Public Communications, J. Okor Odey, disclosed that El-Rufai was taken into custody on the evening of February 18, 2026, in connection with matters currently under investigation by the anti-graft agency.

“The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to state that Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, is in our custody as at close of work today, Wednesday, the 18th day of February, 2026. Malam Nasiru El-Rufai is in the custody of the Commission in connection with investigations,” the statement read.

Although the Commission did not disclose the specific allegations or scope of the investigation, it stated that further details would be made available as inquiries progress.

The development has drawn significant public attention, given El-Rufai’s prominence in national politics and his tenure as governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from El-Rufai or his representatives regarding the detention.
