‘I Would Choose Same Road That Led Me To You’ – Tinubu Celebrates Oluremi At 66

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and praising her patience, courage, compassion and steadfast faith.

In a heartfelt birthday message released ahead of her birthday on September 21, the President said Oluremi had stood by him through difficult seasons, offering counsel, prayers and emotional support throughout their years together.

Tinubu, who addressed his wife as “Oluremi mi,” quoted a Yoruba proverb, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀,” meaning “A good wife is her husband’s crown,” while also referencing the biblical description of a virtuous woman.

“You have given these words true meaning in my life. You have stood by my side through every season,” the President said.

He described the First Lady as someone who often understood his concerns even before he expressed them, adding that her presence had sometimes been sufficient counsel after demanding days.

According to Tinubu, Oluremi also speaks frankly to him when necessary, a quality he said he deeply cherishes.

“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.

The President also praised his wife for her role in raising their children and grandchildren, saying their home bore the imprint of her devotion and prayers.

Tinubu highlighted Oluremi’s humanitarian activities, recalling her work through the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and the Renewed Hope Initiative under the present administration.

He said her humanitarian efforts had touched young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers, while also supporting people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases.

The President said his wife’s compassion transcended ethnic, regional and religious boundaries.

He recalled the long journey they had travelled together, including difficult decisions, sacrifices and moments of uncertainty, saying “laughter and prayer” had carried them through many of those experiences.

In the most personal part of the message, Tinubu declared: “If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you.

Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you.”

He thanked the First Lady for the life they had built together and prayed that God would grant her many more years in good health and joy.

“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi,” Tinubu said, adding that he wished the years ahead would bring her the same comfort and happiness she had given him and many others.
