Husband Arrested For Allegedly Beating Wife To Death In Ekiti

Tragedy struck in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, as a woman identified as Modupe Alasin reportedly died after being severely beaten by her husband.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred after an argument between the couple over the wife’s lateness to the farm. One witness, who pleaded anonymity, recounted that Modupe cried out for help and begged for mercy as her husband flogged her repeatedly.

According to the account, the husband later instructed her to fetch water from a nearby stream, but she collapsed on the way and died by the stream, apparently from exhaustion and the injuries sustained during the assault.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, said the suspect had been arrested and was currently in custody for further investigation.
