Human Security Bane Of Nigeria’s Problem,Can’t Be Solved By Military Alone-CDS

The Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa has said Nigeria’s security problem lies with human security concerning the attitude of its citizens.
He said Nigeria won’t conquer insecurity despite acquisition of modern warfare equipment unless it addresses human insecurity.
The CDS spoke at the international strategic convention (ISC 2023) organised by the institute of corporate institute of strategic research in Abuja.
Musa who was represented by the AVM Olasunkanmi Abidoye said there was no need for the nation’s enemies to send spies since it’s citizens freely give out information on its challenges.
“Human security is where our problem actually is. No body needs send any spy amongst us when we freely give out information. No matter how we have UAVs and everything we still need the human security. Now we don’t have investors coming into Nigeria because they don’t believe Nigeria is safe”.
He therefore tasked corporate leaders on the need to have a deep understanding of security challenges that affect their operations such as cyber threats, Terrorism and natural disaster.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chairman BOA Dr Ahmed Wada said lack of strategic thinking responsible for Nigeria’s woes.
He added that failure to manage oil economy responsible for the nation’s sorry state.
“As a nation we have a big challenge and that is managing our country. You will agree with me that right now we have alot of challenges right from our economy. Our failure to manage the oil economy, oil that is said to be a blessing people are now debating whether it is a blessing or a curse. It is all about failure in management and it is because we have not been strategic” he said.
“Our failure to stand on our own,our failure to be productive, the subservient nature that we imbibe where we have to tie our currency to the American dollars… bad. What is the problem? No thinking? We are not strategic in anything”.
He lamented that goods are produced here in Nigeria and then taken to Dubai to attach labels then bring back to Nigeria.
He wondered “Why won’t the value of naira fall? When we are not producing anything. In the 70s and 80s, vehicles on Nigerian roads were assembled here but all that is gone because we have not been strategic in management. So the institute has a very critical role to play in nation building. We must stop complaining work towards a better nation. We must avoid wasteful culture,”
