House of Reps Queries NDE Over Suspicious Disbursement Of N1.4bn Loans

House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts Committee has queried the disbursement of N1,470,594,611.76 by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to beneficiaries of its skill acquisition scheme, since inception. ‎

The committee unearthed that only N287,952,190.15 has been recovered by the agency since 1987 when it was created by the Military President Ibrahim Babangida administration.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Rep Ibrahim Baba issued the query to the Director General of the agency Mr Nasiru Ladan Mohammed saying that the agency has seven queries to answer from the report of the Auditor-General of the Federation to the Committee.

Members of the Committee, therefore, demanded the names and certificates of beneficiaries of the loan scheme. ‎

They also demanded a copy of Auditor-General’s report of the agency from 1987 to 2015.

The DG however told the lawmakers that the loan was disbursed by the last administration of the agency, adding that he was recently appointed to head the agency and had submitted all requested documents.
