Hoodlums Attack Police Area Command In Kogi, kill Officer

The Nigeria Police Okehi Area Command in Kogi State, have been reportedly attacked by Hoodlums in the early hours of Friday and an inspector of police was killed.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Police Command in the state, SP William Ovye Aya, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Lokoja.
He added that part of the Area Command Office was razed by dynamite used by the attackers.
According to Aya, a Police Inspector died in the exchange of fire with the hoodlums before the Area Commander and a detachment of Military in the area reinforced to the scene of incident, adding that the attackers fled.
The PPRO said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Egbuka, had visited scene of the incident for on-the spot-assessment and deployed Operational Assets to Restore Order in the area.
The police image maker added that the police boss had also ordered the deployment of additional operational assets to restore order.
The deployment, according to him, consists of Operatives of the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Quick Response Unit, State Intelligence Bureau in synergy with other security agencies to restore normalcy in the area.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police as assuring the people that “the Command is committed to working in synergy with other security agencies as well as patriotic stakeholders to make the State a safe and secured place for all and sundry.
“He has further tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to commence investigations into the unfortunate incident, to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the attack with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book”.
Naijablitznews.com recalled that the hoodlums had earlier attacked police station in the neigbouring Adavi Local Governnent Area of the state about two months ago during which the command lost three of its personnel.
