Herdsmen plotting to invade Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna again – CAC President

Archbishop, Yimam Orkwar, National President, Christian Association of Clergies (CAC) in Nigeria has advised Christians, particularly farmers in the country to reject being made slaves by foreigners in their own land for a second time.
The clergyman was reacting to the situation where herdsmen that allegedly migrated from foreign countries like Niger, Chad and Mali among others were killing indigenous Christian farmers and occupying their lands.
Orkwar who is the General Overseer, All Nations Evangelism Ministries (ANEM) stated this in his homily at a Special Church Service at the Faith Cathedral, Makurdi on Sunday.
While he described Christian leaders in the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration as cowards for keeping sealed lips over the killing of farmers by herdsmen, he urged them to stand for the defenseless farmers, without fear of losing their lives or jobs.
The General Overseer, therefore, called on Christians in the country, particularly the clergy to pray fervently to end the killing of Christians across the country by the herdsmen.
He also appealed to Christian leaders to distance themselves from leaders who do not mean well for the nation, adding that such leaders were “cowards, traitors and corrupt Christians that have sold the people out for a morsel of bread.“As Christians in this country Nigeria, Jesus Christ has given us our freedom, and we must refuse to be made slaves again by anybody or any authority. The time has come for Christians to rise up and reject slavery.”

Archbishop Orkwar also rejected the establishment of grazing colonies by the federal government, even as he frowned at fresh plots to invade Taraba, Adamawa and Kaduna states by terrorists with the aim of killing and occupying their lands.

According to him, “As we speak, the foreigners are occupying lands belonging to indigenous Christian farmers who are now in Internally Displaced Persons camps.”

Just as he called on Christian Clerics in the country to celebrate this year’s Christmas with a difference, Orkwar urged them to mobilise the people to vote credible leaders that would address the challenges confronting the nation in the 2019 general elections.
