Helicopter Crash Sparks Panic In Ondo Community, Casualties Feared

A helicopter was reportedly involved in a crash in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday, with several people feared dead.
The reported incident occurred in the coastal community, triggering panic among residents as efforts were said to be underway to ascertain the location of the aircraft and the fate of those on board.
Details surrounding the crash remained unclear as of press time, including the identity of the helicopter, the number of occupants and the circumstances that led to the incident.
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that a helicopter had crashed in the area but said residents were still trying to establish the exact location.
“Yes, it is true. A helicopter crashed at Igbokoda, Ondo State, but we don’t know the exact place and other details,” he said.
Relevant authorities contacted for confirmation reportedly requested more time to verify the incident and establish the facts.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said he was unaware of the reported crash when contacted.
He, however, promised to make further inquiries and provide an update.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to officially confirm the crash, the identity of the aircraft or reports of casualties.
