Heavily armed police officers takes over PDP National Secretariat

Heavily armed police officers have taken control of Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, amid rising tension ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for today.

According to a report by Channels Television, a party official—speaking off the record—revealed that the police presence was intended to prevent the planned Expanded Caucus meeting of the NEC from taking place.

Initially, PDP staff were granted entry into the secretariat without incident, but were later ordered to vacate the premises. Journalists were similarly instructed to leave the area.

Police officers also cordoned off Dalaba Street, the main access road leading to Wadata Plaza, further tightening security around the party’s headquarters.
