Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan invites Akpabio to Kogi project commissioning

Tensions between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and Senate President Godswill Akpabio appear to be easing, as the Kogi lawmaker has invited Akpabio to attend a project commissioning ceremony in her senatorial district.
The invitation—also extended to all members of the Senate—was contained in a personally signed letter from Akpoti-Uduaghan, which Akpabio read aloud during Thursday’s plenary session. The event, slated for Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, will commemorate her second anniversary as a member of the National Assembly.
“In marking my second-year anniversary as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” the letter stated in part.
The senator indicated that the venue and take-off point for the event would be her residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State. Lawmakers arriving by air were advised to use the Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to Ihima by road.
Upon reading the invitation, Akpabio congratulated Akpoti-Uduaghan warmly, saying, “Congratulations in advance.”
The gesture is widely viewed as a significant step toward reconciliation between both lawmakers, following their public fallout earlier in the year over Senate seat reallocation—a dispute that led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension on March 6.
Since her reinstatement on September 24, the senator has resumed full participation in plenary sessions and legislative activities, including contributing to debates on key bills such as the Criminal Code Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Her latest invitation, however, stands out as her most overt effort yet to mend fences with the Senate President and reestablish cordial relations within the chamber’s leadership.
