Happening Now: Court Rejects Olisa Metuh’s Application Seeking Dasuki To Testify In His Trial

Justice Okon Abang of an Abuja Federal High Court, on Thursday denied former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh’s application seeking ex-National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki(Rtd) to testify in his trial.

Metuh is current standing trial before the court for allegedly receiving the sum of N400m from Dasuki during the 2015 Presidential election.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had alleged that the money was part of the fund meant for the procurement of arms for the military prosecuting the war against Boko Haram terrorists in the North East.

Against this backdrop, the former PDP spokesperson filed an application seeking Dasuki’s appearance so as to clear his name of any wrong doing.

But ruling on the applications, the trial judge said the application lacked merit and that the ex-NSA was not a “compellable witness”.

Justice Abang also refused Metuh’s prayer asking he be allowed to travel to the United Kingdom, UK for treatment.
