Gunmen kidnap family of 5, demand N10m in Ondo
A family of five have been reportedly kidnapped while on their way to Abuja from Ajowa-Akoko in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo.
The victims, came home on the Easter break, but were kidnapped by some unknown gunmen between Ajowa-Akoko and Ayere community in Kogi State.
Mr. Ibrahim Olusa, who hails from Daja Ajowa was travelling with his wife and children when they were abducted at a bad spot on the highway between Ajowa-Akoko and Ayere.
Meanwhile, a source from the family of the victims disclosed that their abductors have contacted the family, demanding N10million ransom for their release.
The source said the family was still working on how to negotiate with the kidnappers on how to reduce the ransom to the amount the family could raise.
However, the immediate past Chairman of Ajowa Akoko Community Council, who is resident in the community, Mr. Ajayi Bakare has blamed the incident on the deplorable condition of the highway in Kogi State axis.
He explained that kidnappers usually laid siege to their victims on the bad spots on the highway where motorists are forced to drive at snail speed due to the craters on thehighway, thereby making it easy for them abduct their victims without any resistance.
Bakare, therefore, appealed to Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello to rehabilitate the portion of road in his state to allow free flow of vehicles.
