Gunmen invade ex-Ogun LG chairman’s residence

An armed gang stormed the home of former Ijebu-Ode Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Emilola Gazal, in the early hours of Thursday, dispossessing him of cash, valuables, and his car.
Gazal, who also publishes The Roots Magazine, confirmed the robbery in a telephone interview, recounting how three men broke into his Ijebu-Ode GRA residence around 2 a.m.
“They took all the cash I had and compelled me to transfer everything in my bank accounts to an account they provided, leaving only ₦5,000. They also carted away my wife’s jewellery and my ash-coloured car,” he said, adding that he had reported the matter to the police in Igbeba and Obalende divisions.
The incident adds to a rising wave of violent robberies across Ogun State, especially in the Ijebu axis. Earlier in the year, police operatives shot dead a suspected armed robber during a gun battle along the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Expressway. On September 12, 2025, the command also arrested a suspect linked to a burglary and armed robbery case in Ayetoro, involving goods worth about ₦1.5 million.
Similarly, the Amotekun Corps has repeatedly clashed with criminal gangs in Ogun’s border communities, killing some suspects in recent operations.
