Group hails Osinbajo for sacking Daura, calls for caution with politicians

Vice president Yemi Osinbajo has been praised for the termination of the appointment of former Director General of the Department of State security,Lawal Daura ,describing the decision as timely, perfect and in order so a to restore sanity into the service.

This commendation was given on Wednesday in Lagos by the Centre Against Impunity and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) in a press release signed by its executive director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki,stating that the constant infraction of the rights of the people by the officials and men of the DSS is legendary and condemnable, thus the Acting President acted in good faith by terminating his appointment in order to safe the government from ridicule and public disgrace.

According to the CAIDOV boss”the invasion of the national assembly by officers of the DSS is condemnable,irresponsible and reckless. We must commend Acting president Yemi Osinbajo for acting promptly and in an orderly manner by relieving the erstwhile boss of the DSS of his post. Its important to note that,taking such action without the permission or knowledge of the Acting president and the presidency when there is actually no threat to public peace,smacks of impunity and disrespect for the office of the vice president and that must not be condoned. ”

The group further posited that there is also a need for total shake up in the security of the country ,if the war against insurgency will be won,as the current service chiefs have not in anyway demonstrated capabilities to end the mindless bloodletting in the northern part of the country.

Furthermore “the acting president will have to go ahead and terminate the appointments of all the service chiefs as they have shown clearly they are incapable of securing the people as evidenced by the continuous killing by boko haram in the northern part of the country. There is need to inject new blood into the fight against insurgency.

Finally, CAIDOV also appealed to the politicians to thread cautiously in plying their trade and not heat up the polity unnecessarily, as progress can only be achieved in a conducive atmosphere.” Our politicians must always play according to democratic ethos by not heating up the polity unnecessarily. We need peaceful and harmonious atmosphere for progress in this country”,CAIDOV boss concluded
