Group disassociates self from attack on Amuludun radio station

The Yoruba Nation Self Determination Movement has distanced itself from the recent attack by some suspected hoodlums on Amuludun FM Radio Station in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital, and condemned the act.

The group in a statement issued on Wednesday and endorsed by all South West Coordinators explained that the incident was brought to its attention, hence, need to tell the world that the body was not involve in any form.

“We are issuing out this press briefing to the general public and to all Yoruba sons and daughters on behalf of all Yoruba indigenes throughout the world that our attention has been drawn to a publication that some Yoruba Nation Self Determination activist attempted to hi-jack “Amuludun FM” Radio Station in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The group further explained that the publication disclosed that the perpetrators were credited to belong to one Mrs. Modupe Onitiri of Abiola Ominira Yoruba 2022 Group, which has no any affiliation with the Yoruba Nation Self Determination Movement

According to the statement; “We are appealing on behalf of The Yoruba Nation Self Determination Movement under our noble, honest dedicated and patriotic world acknowledged renowned recognised leader, Professor Banji Akintoye and Chief Dr. Sunday Adeyemo and all self-determination group.

“Campaigners, activists and advocates associated with the real Yoruba Nation Movement, hereby denounce unequivocally term and firmly deny any knowledge of this event. And we were never associated with their act and strongly condemn such moves to taint our image, aim, mission and objectives of the Yoruba Nation struggle.

The statement explained that, Yoruba Self Determination Movement is a civilised, peaceful, civil and law abiding movement. “We have demonstrated this across the whole wide-world in our quest for our Yoruba Sovereign Nation”, the statement emphasised.

“For the record, we dissociate our movement from the sponsors and perpetrators who do not represent our movement. We are confident that the records has shown that we are going about this movement in accordance with international protocol, guidelines and lawful means for our self-determination process and at no time we associated with any acts of violence during this struggle.

“Even when faced with hostilities, we have shown restrain many times in the past. There is no single record of unlawful acts nor attempts to disrupt the public peace, space that can be traced or linked to our movement even when we rallied in front of the United Nations Tower in New York, Washington DC, Canada, UK parliament, Traflagar Square, Downing Street, Nigeria High Commission, Germany, France, Rome

“We had a tremendous peaceful mega rallies in Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ibadan, Ondo, Akure, Ekiti, Ile-Ifè, Lagos. We hereby urge anyone that believes in this struggle to please refrain from unlawful acts and moves that may jeopardize our peaceful lawful struggle and the diplomatic gains we have recorded in international space and prospects for this Struggle.

“Our leaders condemn this act and are hereby making it known to the world that we learned of this incident from the press just as the general public. God bless Professor Banji Akintoye , God bless Chief Dr. Sunday Adeyemo . God bless Yoruba Nation and God bless Yoruba people around the world, the group prayed.
