By Mary Ekpo
Brave enough to be an honorable man? It doesn’t matter what the civilization or a feminist says. Our Country, our families and society is in desperate need of honorable men. One major reason that our country is in the state that it is in is because of the lack of honorable men.
In our current society, it seems men are not expected to be honorable. I’m wondering what happened? Who decided to lower the standard? Being honorable is not old fashioned and not only for the military or other public servants. There is something about being in the company of honorable men. There is a sense of security, calm, and confidence that everything is going to be okay and even if trouble arises, the man is going to handle things.
- TO FOSTER PEACE AND SECURITY IN OUR FAMILIES AND SOCIETY:
The presence of Honorable men in the society engenders a peaceful family and society at large, they are known to balance both professional lives and families, in cases of rift and chaos in the family honorable men are known to restore peace and security to such situations.
- To protect love and care for women in the society:
Because men are known for their role in protecting, loving and caring for the girl child and by extension women in the society, honorable men knows that the women in his life are his greatest strength, accepts their weakness, protecting, love and care for not for women in his family but every woman he comes across.
3. To reduce crime rate to the minimum level as possible:
Honorable men do not engage in criminal activities such as fraud, rape, robbery, kidnapping and other social vices, when a society has a good number of honorable men with the following characteristics such as:
1. Having good men who are right attitude with humbleness.
2. Humbleness in spite of success.
3. Success with kindness.
4. Kindness without a selfish motive.
5. Motivation with a positive attitude
There will be low level of crime rate
- To build quality moral capacity for every family (children):
The involvement of both parents in bringing up a child is key to the moral and psychological development of a child. The role of men in the family can never be replaced by a woman as much as they try to fill that gap a void is still left.
It is the role of an honorable father to teach his son how to grow up to become an honorable man.
